Evening started out at Café Racer with ‘Wall of Death’ cover with harmony.
Then ended up at Lucid with the wanderlust ha. Killer drum solos, fretless bass workout, harmonica that shredded also with some guitar shredding moments among bluesishfunkishness. Some keyboard too.
Love the outdoor seating at Lucid.

Caught a couple sets of Michael Navado at Lucid on Friday night. Trio composed of trumpet, guitar, drums. No bass but it worked, made the sound trebly, a little less grounded, airy. Many compositions were by Caitlin Sherman of the band Slow Skate. Most compositions traditional jazz format with head, solos, 8 bar breaks for drummer. Heads were clever, inventive. Looks like Sherman is married to guitarist Jason Goessl, who played in Navado’s trio. Not sure the name of the drummer; he let loose. Goessl’s playing was languorous, with occasional bass lines, but mostly chording and some tasteful solos. Navado’s solos were melodic, a little more frenetic than Goessl. His bio is interesting; sez he played with Randy Newman, De La Soul. Wonder what the story is there.
Love the sound at Lucid: no mics needed. Love the drinks too – great cocktails.
Cool to discover Parlour Trick. Looks like they’ve got a good roster of Seattle artists.
