“Um, yeah, we’re from Long Island.” Strong Island for real. Sounded real good live. Wasn’t sure how that was gonna go down since their recorded stuff is so chill. But they were solid, filling up Neumos with a big sound, fat bass, synthy synth. Still on the chill side, but not so chill. Found some good vibes. Lead singer dancing about, skinny jeans, hypnotizing vocals. Guitarist sometimes doubling vocals with crazy effects, cool sound.  Not sure why the drummer was muffling his drum sound though; was wanting to hear that snare pop.  Band got progressively more 80s sounding as the evening went on, the beats getting 808 like.  Did a cover of “I Wanna Be Your Lover” (Prince I think?) to top off 80s thing.

Check out the Flotzam interview with them.

Twin Sister play Neumos tonight.  Here's a track to give you a sense of their dreamy lushness.

You can find more of their stuff here. Got a chance to throw a few questions their way. Check it out below:

Do you write songs collectively or individually?

Collectively. Usually someone will have the seed of an idea and the rest of us will help flesh it out. There hasn't been a song yet that's made it onto a release without being nit-picked pretty heavily by everyone else. Eric and Andrea work particularly well together, probably because they've been singing together for many years.

What are your biggest influences?

Fruit, anime, musical instruments, nature, stickers.

You were featured by the one and only Carles of HipsterRunoff.  Do you consider this a good thing or a bad thing?

I'd never read that blog before, so it was firstly just interesting to have a look into such an idiosyncratic and fully conceived little world he's got going on there. He has that way of communicating legitimate ideas with internet slang. The best comment is the guy that said, "that bitch is an optical illusion."
